ALBUQUERQUE N.M. (KRQE) – UNM women’s basketball coach Mike Bradbury has added an assistant that he is very familiar with. Valerie King was an assistant under Bradbury at Wright State for the last six years. Prior to that, King spent three years as an assistant under Bradbury at Morehead State. “I’m excited to be a part of the UNM Women’s Basketball staff and family,” said King. “I look forward to getting to know our players and getting on the floor with them.”
One of King’s specialties is outside shooting. She helped turn Morehead State into one of the nation’s top three point shooting teams. They led the nation in three pointers made during the 2009-10 season with 10.3 per game. As a player at Cincinnati, King finished as the schools and Conference USA all time leader in 3 pointers with 338. King scored 2,156 career points to rank second all-time at Cincinnati and is just one of three Bearcats to score 2,000 or more points in a career.
