ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Police officers responded to a domestic dispute in southeast Albuquerque on Tuesday.

The Albuquerque Police Department was called out to the 1400 block of Carlisle SE after a tip from a neighbor about a couple, saying that the man, later identified as 22-year-old Kevin Caldwell, might not be allowing the woman to leave.

After arriving on scene, police gathered information and found out Caldwell was known to have violent tendencies and also known to be armed.

Police obtained the woman’s cell phone number, made contact with her and found out the female was no longer in the apartment and was safe.

An outer perimeter was established and Public Service Announcements were conducted while SWAT teams were called out after exhausting all options to make contact with Caldwell, who police say has a violent history.

Officers say that shortly after SWAT teams arrived, Caldwell came out and complied with officers commands.

He was taken into custody without incident and is facing Felony Domestic Violence charges at this time.
