Crash cleanup closes US 550 near San Ysidro

SAN YSIDRO, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police issued an alert at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday regarding a closure of US 550 due to a motor vehicle accident.

State Police said they responded to a motor vehicle crash near mile marker 24 on US 550, west of San Ysidro. The crash involved a commercial motor vehicle.

There were no injuries in the crash, however police say the commercial vehicle’s fuel tank was ruptured, necessitating a hazardous material cleanup.

US 550 was closed in both directions for while the diesel fuel was cleaned up.
