ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The woman that crashed her van and seriously injured several kids on Friday is facing charges for not properly buckling them up and possibly driving drunk.
30-year-old Aracely Moreno was in court Saturday.
Eyewitnesses say the van with 10 people in it was swerving before it crashed near Isleta and Gun Club.
A woman, a teen and two small kids were thrown from the van. One kid ended up in a ditch filled with water.
Deputies say all six kids, between the ages of four and 10, were injured.
They say Moreno, who appeared drunk, was speeding and swerving heavily when she hit another car and rolled.
KRQE News 13 was told none of the kids were wearing seatbelts.
Moreno is now charged with child abuse and drunk driving.
Her bond is $25,000 cash or surety.
