Menzies leaving NMSU for UNLV

LAS CRUCES (KRQE) – New Mexico State head basketball coach Marvin Menzies is headed to Vegas.

Menzies has verbally agreed to become the next men’s basketball coach at UNLV. Menzies interviewed for the job last month before withdrawing his name from consideration. Chris Beard was named coach soon after. When Beard left for Texas Tech, less than a month into the job, Menzies was interviewed again by phone and offered the job.

Menzies spent 9 seasons at New Mexico State. His teams won three WAC regular season titles and 5 WAC Tournament titles.
