ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – U.S. Senator Tom Udall is putting his support behind legislation for a free tax prep system through the IRS.

Senator Elizabeth Warren is expected to file it Wednesday. The legislation would make it mandatory for the IRS to create a free online system, that way tax payers could file with the government directly.

The bill would also ban the IRS from working with for profit tax prep companies. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
