ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Lobos catcher Chris DeVito is the Mountain West Player of the Week.

DeVito’s teammate and pitcher Carson Schneider is the Pitcher of the Week. Devito batted .579 while leading the Lobos to a 4-0 week. He had three home runs and 8 RBIs. Five of his RBIs tied or gave UNM the lead in the seventh inning or later in the four games.

For the season, Devito is batting .438 with 11 home runs and 48 RBIs and is the national leader in total bases with 103. His slugging percentage of .805 is good for fourth in the country. He ranks among the NCAA top 10 in 8 different categories. The Lobo pitcher Schneider went 8 and a third innings in a series opening victory over Fresno State last Friday.

Schneider struck out six, allowed only five hits and one run. The victory was the beginning of a sweep that left the Lobos all alone on top of the Mountain West with a three game lead over second place Fresno State. Schneider leads the league in conference wins at 4. His overall 6-1 record has him tied for 8th nationally.
