Tingley Beach hosts free fishing derby

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Tingley Beach was packed with fishing poles and anglers hoping to catch the big one this weekend.

As part of the free fishing derby, the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish stocked the central pond with more than 5,000 rainbow trout, including 200 tagged fish.

Those who caught the specially tagged fish got prizes. This is pitched as Tingley’s top event.

On Monday, Tingley Beach is holding a volunteer clean up to pick up fishing line and trash from the ponds.
