Pastor convicted of embezzling from New Mexico church

RUIDOSO, N.M. (KRQE) – A pastor has been convicted of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from his Ruidoso church.

Kevin Krohn was the longtime pastor at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

He was pocketing donations from parishioners, totaling about $70,000. Some of that money went into Krohn’s personal retirement account.

He was found guilty last week of larceny and will serve 18 months in prison.

The judge did not order him to pay restitution because church officials filed a civil lawsuit against Krohn that is still pending. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
