ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A man, who works on the New Mexico State Fairgrounds, is accused of raping a teenage girl there.
The girl says it happened near the horse stalls back in October after she got a ride from a man as she was walking in the area. She says instead of taking her to her house, the man took her to the stalls where he works as a groomer and trainer and attacked her.
Investigators say they’ve identified that man as 60-year-old Francisco Espinoza. They say they have DNA evidence implicating him.
KRQE News 13 reached out to Expo New Mexico officials to find out if Espinoza is one of their employees and they told KRQE News 13 that he is not.
They say employees associated with horse racing at the Downs are allowed access to that area because they use the horse stalls.Expo officials also say that they were never notified of the rape or the investigation until KRQE News 13 called them. They say they were only told Tuesday there would be an arrest on the site but never told what it was about.
