Man arrested, another injured in southwest Albuquerque shooting

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – One man was arrested and another was injured following a shooting in southwest Albuquerque Monday night.

Officers were called to the 7500 block of Aster Road following reports of a shooting. When they arrived, witnesses told officers that a man had been shot in the head. Police were unable to locate the victim, but did arrest 23-year-old Alejandro Villa in connection to the shooting.

A man suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head later checked into a local hospital where he was recognized by an officer based on his description.

An investigation determined that the suspect was upset at the victim for playing loud music and the two exchanged shots.

Police say the victim’s condition is stable.

Alejandro Villa is currently being charged for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
