ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Jordan Pacheco knows what it is like to start opening day on a big league roster once again when he made the opening day roster for the Cincinnati Reds.
Pacheco did not crack the line up in the Reds opening day 6-2 win over Philadellphia. He is one of three catchers on the roster and now has to work his way into some playing time.
Pacheco does have another way to get on the field. The versatile former University of New Mexico Lobo also plays the infield, and spent the 2014 season with the Arizona Diamondbacks before being designated for assignment in June of 2015.
He signed a minor league contract with the Reds in January of 2016. Prior to the Diamondbacks, Pacheco played in the Colorado Rockies organization.
His big league career batting average is .278, with 285 hits, 10 home runs and 114 runs batted in.
