ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque Public Schools is expected to begin conducting background checks for nearly 2,000 employees hired before 1999.
In the coming days, the district will begin fingerprinting the first wave of 300 employees. The move is part of several new rules approved by APS in March.
Other changes will require school employees to tell their supervisor of any prior criminal convictions. Employees will also have to get background checks every five years.
