Police Search for Suspects in Deadly Hit and Run
Albuquerque police need your help identifying a pair of suspects wanted in a deadly hit and run. 26-year-old Louis Chavez was killed Thursday at a gas station near Lomas and Eubank. APD has released a picture of the truck used in the hit and run and the woman believed to be in the passenger seat at the time. Investigators say the driver and Chavez got into an argument, after the driver asked Chavez for gas money. A few moments later, police say the driver sped up, mowing Chavez down before taking off. Chavez died shortly after he was run over. His family is holding out hope that the suspects will come forward. APD believes the truck had plumbing supplies in the back. They’re asking anyone who recognizes the vehicle or the female passenger to call them at 242-COPS.
Film Crew Member Charged
It looks like a crew member working on a film set near Santa Fe lost his cool. According to the New Mexican, 25-year-old Jaime Moreno-Ruelas was arrested this week for attacking a co-worker with a carving knife. The victim told sheriff’s deputies Moreno-Ruelas slashed him in the arm and torso. He is OK. Morena-Ruelas is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Roswell Shooting Investigation
Developing news this morning out of Roswell, where police are investigating an early morning shooting outside of a nightclub. It happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday. When officers arrived they found a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his midsection in the parking lot of the Epiq nightclub. Police say the man was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover. No word on a motive or any suspects at this point.
