Roswell Police arrest man after Sunday morning shooting

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – Roswell Police are investigating a shooting that took place at about 6 a.m. on Sunday morning.

The shooting took place on the 500 block of South Cypress.

Police say there are two victims suffering wounds from bird shot fired from a gun. A 30-year-old man had a stomach injury and a 41-year-old woman had a facial injury. Both were taken to the hospital.

Narcotics use is believed to have been a factor in the incident.

A 33-year-old male, Jonathan Jeter, was originally detained for questioning but was later arrested and charged with aggravated battery in relation to the shooting. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
