Councilors consider strengthening dangerous dog ordinance

ABQ City Council

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)– A proposal to make Albuquerque’s dangerous dog ordinance tougher could be approved by city councilors Monday.

Council is considering strengthening “Angel’s Law”.

The law would require city animal welfare officers to immediately seize any dog that kills or seriously hurts a person or another pet.

Owners could ask for a hearing to try and get the dog back.

The mayor’s administration has been pushing the ordinance as a way to better protect the public. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
