Chris’ Sunday Evening Forecast

Wind and High Fire Danger return on Tuesday.   New Mexico will get one more day with light wind and warm temperatures before a storm system passes to our north on Tuesday.   This system won’t bring moisture to New Mexico, but instead it will crank up the wind and elevate the fire danger.   Fire Weather Watches are already up for central and northern New Mexico for Tuesday afternoon for wind gusts from 40-50 mph, low relative humidity values, and warmer than normal temperatures.  With these types of conditions, you don’t want to do any outdoor burning!   The wind comes down for the middle of the week.   By Friday, a storm system will roll in from the west and that could bring the chance for rain and even thunderstorms to central and western New Mexico.
