SOCORRO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Firefighters continue to watch over a bosque fire burning on both sides of the Rio Grande.

Officials say the fire has burned about 200 acres as of Wednesday. Efforts to suppress the fire continued overnight, with a bulldozer line being created around the fire.

The Brown Fire, a bosque and grass fire on private land south of Socorro, began Tuesday evening starting on the west side of the river and jumped to the east side.

Officials say that no structures are threatened. Smoke may be visible from I-25.
