New project aims to help the hungry

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A local organization donated a large amount to help families suffering from hunger.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico recently gave $50,000 to St. Martin’s Hospitality Center to fund a new program called Project Blue Box. It’s a very innovative program to improve the health and well-being of children in our state since hunger is big issue.

Project Blue Box provide bags of food for the weekend to 60 families at 4 Title I elementary schools in Albuquerque.

Father Rusty with St. Martin’s Hospitality Center and Janice Torrez with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico joined KRQE’s This Morning team to discuss the project. Watch above.
