ALUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Lobo Spring football is underway, and already done with their first padded practice. Changes are abundant in the offseason of college football, and the move that Apollo Wright has made from Running backs coach to Quarterbacks coach is a welcomed move.
“I am very excited I loved the running backs, you I have been coaching for 20 years, but anytime you get to coach a position that you actually played and that you put your heart and soul into that’s a good thing”, said QB coach Apollo Wright. It makes sense that a former QB would take over for this UNM team that is making even more adjustments this offseason in the QB position.
“I think it is diversifying a little bit, you know we are just rolling with the punches and see what we can do”, said UNM QB Austin Apodaca. Davie has said that there is a possibility of playing multiple QB’s next season, and this spring there has already been more plays run to spread the offense.
It’s a good thing that this UNM QB core is deep, and with the help of Wright the Lobos believe they will see success. “I love how we can all change it up. You know, someone can go in there and bring a whole new different spark to the team and help us win”, said UNM QB Lamar Jordan.
