ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Construction on the controversial Albuquerque Rapid Transit project has been pushed back.

City Council recently voted to authorize more than $69 million in federal funding for the project but that didn’t come without heated debate. To incorporate some of the public’s requested changes, construction will begin in late July instead of May.

The ART line will run along Central from Unser to Tramway with a dedicated bus lane from Coors to Louisiana.

The project is still expected to be finished by Fall 2017.
