ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)– Researchers at Sandia National Labs are fine-tuning a technique they hope will be quicker and more accurate to detect mosquitoes carrying dangerous diseases like the Zika Virus and West Nile.

Researchers developed a way to light up disease-carrying mosquitos that could spread West Nile.

Now, they’re working on doing the same to screen for Zika Virus.

In the future, it could help field workers target threatening mosquitos and figure out how to triage patients.
