Police respond to suspected burglary in northeast Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police say a suspected commercial burglary instead appears to be a case of miscommunication between a husband and wife.

Albuquerque Police responded to a possible burglary near Louisiana and Menaul on Sunday at a store owned by a husband and wife.

One of the store owners called police saying that people were taking items from the shop. When officers arrived they took two people into custody but were told that two others might still be inside the store. Officers then surrounded the business and called for anyone left inside to come out, but they were unable to locate anyone else.

Menaul from Louisiana to Florida St. was shut down in both directions due to the investigation.

After speaking to the pair in custody, they said they had permission from the store owner to move the items. Officers then spoke to the store’s other owner, who confirmed that he did know the two people.

In the end, the investigation determined that there was not enough probable cause to arrest the two people for burglary.
