Kids learn farming to honor civil rights leader Cesar Chavez

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)– Some local kids learned the importance of farming Thursday as a way to honor the late civil rights leader Cesar Chavez.

It’s part of the 7th Annual Cesar Chavez Day of Service Learning at the La Plazita Gardens.

More than 350 students were able to learn about farming, the leader himself and the migrant farm workers movement.

Another celebration remembering Chavez will be held Saturday at the Hispanic Cultural Center starting with a march at 10:30 a.m. followed by a huge community celebration, all free to the public.
