Eric Montoya becomes New Mexico’s 13th ever D-1 All-American Wrestler

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- Eric Montoya is a graduate of Volcano Vista. The 133 pound wrestler now attends Nebraska, known for their wrestling program. Montoya pinned Ryan Taylor of Wisconsin on Friday night to earn All-American status, and on Saturday Montoya defeated Jordan Conway of Penn State 7-4.

This victory clinched Montoya a 5th place spot at the NCAA Wrestling Championships. Montoya is just 13th ever from the state of New Mexico to earn D-1 All-American honors in wrestling. He is also the first to complete this feat since Joey Bracamonte did it back in 2006.
