Espanola Valley moves on to the 5A championship

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It was a big win for the Espanola Valley Sundevils, as Centennial knocked them out in the semifinals just a year ago.

Espanola gets the semifinal win in the 2016 State Tournament 44-39.

It was a slow start for both sides, as both teams shot under 26 percent from the floor in the first half. It was a back and forth battle for most of the game, but Espanola Valley would take control in the fourth quarter.

They outscored Centennial 22-11 and Marcos Flores led all scorers with 17 points.

The Sundevils move on to play the winner of #3 Capital and #2 Grants on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Wise Pies Arena AKA The Pit.
