Lobo Men open tournament on Thursday

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- Number 4 UNM Men’s Basketball will take on #5 Nevada on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in quarterfinal play of the Mountain West Tournament.

This will mark the 3rd time that the Lobos will play the wolf pack.

“I think it’s hard for anybody to beat anybody 3 times, but you know I am not going to talk to our guys about that. We are just going to go one game at a time, one possession and that’s offensively and defensively”, said Head Coach Craig Neal on Monday.

The Lobos snapped a four game losing streak at Nevada on Saturday, but the game ended closer than it should have. The Lobos led by 20 with 10 minutes left in the game. UNM let Nevada crawl back to only beat the Wolf Pack 71-66.

Coach Neal thought his team looked great in the first 30 minutes, and he hopes that’s the team that shows up in the tournament.

“I thought they played with great effort, I thought they competed, and it just shows how good they can play. Now they just have to do that on a consistent basis, and if they do that, the team that plays like that will be hard to beat”, said Craig Neal.

The Lobos will play Nevada on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Las Vegas, Nevada. That game will be shown on CBS Sports Network.
