Homeowner holds attempted burglary suspect at gunpoint

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A would-be burglar was stopped in his tracks after an Albuquerque homeowner held him for police at gunpoint.

The homeowner told police he grabbed his gun when he heard noise in his living room Saturday night.

The homeowner says when he went to investigate, he found 31-year-old Carlos Gomez with a meat cleaver and tools in duffel bag.

Police say the homeowner ordered Gomez on his knees and called 911 and say Gomez claimed he only intended to take food because he was hungry.
