Former Albuquerque officer fights to get his job back

Steve Hindi

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – On Monday, a former Albuquerque police officer who was fired for trying to intimidate an investigator, was fighting to get his job back.

Steve Hindi was fired in December after the chief said Hindi had gathered the investigator’s personal information through a confidential federal database. That investigator was working for the Civilian Police Oversight Agency at the time.

The agency was looking into complaints against Hindi, who has a long history of civil complaints.

Hindi argued in front of a personnel hearing officer that he did not deserve to be fired. The department agreed to allow him to resign instead of firing him.
