New Mexico hospital closes maternity clinic

LAS VEGAS, N.M. (KRQE) – People in one New Mexico city will soon have to hit the road to have their babies in a hospital.

Las Vegas Alta Vista Hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico is no longer offering maternity care.

In a statement, the company says as of next Monday it will stop offering prenatal care and childbirth services. It says the decision was made based on market conditions.

The company says they’re working with expecting parents to help them transition to other doctors.
