Fire weather concerns will be higher today. Warm temperatures, dry conditions, and increased winds provide all the necessary ingredients for any fires that start to thrive. Red Flag Warnings have been posted across the northeast and east central parts of the state where the winds will be highest, gusting between 50 and 60 mph.
A cold front will sweep into the east for Thursday, knocking back temperatures. However, afternoon highs will remain above average through the weekend.
Early next week, a pattern change is looking to take shape with winter storms returning to New Mexico. This would bring a better chance for rain and snow to the state as well as pull temperatures back to near or below normal.
