Albuquerque woman introduces purr-fect workout

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A bizarre new fitness trend is making its way to Albuquerque.

Doga, a form of yoga that incorporates dogs and humans, has been around for years.

Now, Julia Grueskin is introducing a new fit phenomenon called cat yoga to Albuquerque.

“It’s just really fun. People end up laughing a lot, taking it a little bit less seriously,” Grueskin said.

The 26-year-old yoga instructor is also the owner of the city’s soon-to-be first ever cat cafe, Gatas y Galletas.

“I wanted to kind of bring all of those things together for people in one place and I’m really excited to do it in Albuquerque,” she said.

The cats at the cafe will be up for adoption. They will also be up for some yoga.

Grueskin plans to offer the unique fitness class at the cafe a couple times a week.

“I think it makes it a lot more playful,” said cat yoga participant Kailey LaClare. “I can probably concentrate a little bit less, but it’s a good not concentration.”

The cat cafe is expected to open in about three weeks.
