ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – From t-shirt weather to sweater weather, many New Mexicans were surprised by a sudden overnight change in temperatures Tuesday morning.
The snow started falling mid-morning, hitting some areas of the state harder than others. Los Alamos got three inches, closing LANL for the day.
But by noon in Los Alamos, the sun was out and the roads were dry.
Meanwhile in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, flakes didn’t fall for quite as long or so heavy – but people were still taken aback.
“Man it’s crazy, I was ready for spring,” Daniel Friedlander said. “The last two weeks were in the 70s and now this.”
Several people were on the cusp of or had already brought out their spring and summer gear.
“Kind of unusual, it was so warm and just when I was about to bust out my flowery shorts, it’s back to snow,” Mike Walden said.
Not everyone was bummed to see the snow.
“I love it, I love this weather,” Joy Lynn Duran said. “This is my favorite weather.”
