Attorney General responds to Dianna Duran’s request to reduce sentence

Dianna Duran Sentence Motion

SANTA FE (KRQE) – The Attorney General’s office is firing back after disgraced former Secretary of State Dianna Duran asked a judge to cut her sentence.

Duran recently served a month in jail for stealing campaign funds and trying to cover it up.

Last week Duran filed a motion saying being forced to make public appearances is just a form of public shaming. She says people are threatening her life and making fun of her looks. Duran only wants to make one public appearance a month for three years instead of the four a month she is now required to make.

Duran expressed concerns during her first appearance last week saying “It would be really nice to have a little bit of privacy now that i’m a private citizen.”

The Attorney General’s office, which prosecuted the case, filed its motion in opposition saying that the speeches are good for her and the public. The A.G. even brought up how UFC fighter Jon “Bones” Jones has to make a public appearance every week for his hit and run crash.

No word yet when the judge will decide if Duran’s sentence should be cut. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
