Albuquerque man smashed into police car, charged with aggravated DWI

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The man who police say smashed into one of their police cars Wednesday is out of jail.

Albuquerque police released the lapel camera video of a suspect who drove drunk, rammed into a patrol car and then took off.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when an officer tried to pull over 47-year-old Kevin Reiniche for driving recklessly near 5th and Copper.

When Reiniche pulled over, he put his car in reverse and rammed the patrol unit.

The officer was not hurt.

But Reiniche didn’t stop there. Police say he then drove to the Sunport, causing more damage before officers eventually tracked him down, and he was finally arrested.

He’s charged with leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated DWI.
