ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It was suppose to be a clash between two fighters who train in Albuquerque. Donald Cerrone and Tim Means had people talking in the Duke City.
Their UFC Fight Night 83 showdown was altered after Means had a positive drug test that caused the United States Anti Doping Agency to remove him from the card.
Alex Oliveira was put in as a replacement for Means. That is just fine with Cerrone.
“I don’t ever care about the who. The who doesn’t make a difference in the equation for me so uh…a fighter change. We were in Cabo fishing and didn’t know the fighter had changed at the time. Now we got this new guy. It don’t matter for me. It’s hard for him.”
Both men are moving up in weight class, making their respective debut in the welterweight division.
Both fighters also go by the nickname Cowboy. “I don’t understand that. It would be like me going after the name Rampage or Iceman. It doesn’t matter, if he wants to be the Brazilian Cowboy go ahead.”
The fight will be in Pittsburgh and will be broadcast on Fox Sports One.
