APS official still on leave months after motorcycle wreck

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It remains unclear when an Albuquerque Public Schools official will come back to work.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, former APS Chief Finance Officer Don Moya has extended his paid medical leave after a motorcycle wreck last fall.

Moya filed a whistle-blower lawsuit after claiming he was retaliated against when he brought up suspicious audits.

His attorney says he plans to take a new job as APS Financial Systems Architect when he gets back.

As of right now, Moya has gotten more than $80,000 from APS while he’s been on leave.
