Albuquerque police find explosive device at Sunport rental car facility

Officials give All Clear after explosive device found at car rental facility near Albuquerque International Sunport​

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque police were called out to the Avis Budget rental car at 3400 University SE Sunday morning due to a suspicious device on their property.

The Albuquerque Police Department’s Bomb Squad/EOD, the FBI and ATF were on scene while the entire rental car facility at the airport had been shut down.

Official say a “safe and credible explosive device,” was found under a car while being checked after a rental return.

People with rental returns were diverted to the 3200 block of University SE as a temporary parking was established just north of the area to accommodate returns.
