Young artist competition happening Valentine’s weekend

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – If entertainment for Valentine’s weekend is what you’re searching for there’s a piano and strings competition happening.

The Music Guild of New Mexico presents the Jackie McGehee Young Artists’ Competition that is happening Saturday, February 13.

A total of 17 of the best have enter the competition that will be taking place at the University of New Mexico’s Keller Hall.

Students will perform before the judging panels in 15 minute intervals. Cash prizes will be awarded to the young aspiring musicians.

Hyperion Knight, a 2016 judge, and Ryan Downs, previous winner of the violin competition, joined KRQE’s This Morning team to discuss what to expect at this years show. Watch above.
