Plea deal approved for Santa Fe police officer accused of time card fraud

SANTA FE (KRQE) – A judge has approved a plea deal for a Santa Fe police officer charged with time card fraud, after another judge refused to approve the deal.

Officer Jason Wagner is accused of arriving late or leaving early from his shifts back in 2013, but still collecting a full day’s pay.

On Tuesday, Wagner pleaded no contest to attempting to receive public money for services not rendered.

Under the deal he will serve nearly a year of unsupervised probation, and pay nearly $600 in restitution. He will also have resign.

In November, Judge T. Glenn Ellington refused to approve the deal, saying it was too lenient. Ellington later recused himself.
