Taos man who beat girlfriend released from jail

TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – A Taos man who beating his girlfriend to death has been released from jail, just weeks after being convicted. According to the Taos News, a judge ordered Henry Wilton’s release after his attorneys argued he’s already served his time via house arrest.

Wilton beat Angela Serrano while on a camping trip in Tres Ritos 2014. She was taken to the hospital three days later and where she died.

Wilton is facing up to 18 month when he’s formally sentenced, but his attorney says he’s already served 17 months under house arrest. A formal sentencing will likely still happen.
