New Mexico Black History Committee hosts musical event

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Each year, events that surround the remembrance of important people and events in the history of African diaspora is celebrated during the whole month of February, Black History Month.

It’s More Than Just A Song, that is the theme to this year’s contribution to Black History Month performance. The New Mexico Black History Organizing Committee is hosting the Root Revival II musical event that will take a journey through the history and cultural essence of Black music in America. Genre’s range from Be-Bop to Hip-Hip making it fun for the whole family.

This is the story of a young African American students and their families who are striving to figure out their place in the world.

The Music Directro, Dr. Stevie Springer, and the 2015 NM Gospel Best Winner, Toni Morgan, joined KRQE’s This Morning team to talk about the show.

Shows run Friday, February 5 through Sunday, February 7. Times vary.
