ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque shopping center is getting a lot of attention for a wall that some people say look like a man’s private parts.
Robert Punya manages the Sushi King on Irving and Coors.
Since its doors opened in 2006, Punya said his location quickly got his customers talking.
“I saw them and I knew immediately and I said, ‘you know what mom, I think people are going to come and talk about these rocks,’ and she said, ‘yeah, they probably will’,” said Punya.
He’s talking about the wall lining Sun County Plaza’s Shopping Center, specifically the rocks on it.
“They always see these rocks behind me and they always take a picture and say hey did you guys make these rocks to look like penises,” said Punya.
Punya said his customers constantly take pictures in front of the wall and talk about it.
The manager said the shopping center had the wall built and it’s been up since before he moved in. But he said that doesn’t stop customers from asking if the restaurant is behind it.
“It’s owned by the shopping center so yeah, Sushi King did not make these rocks,” said Punya.
While Punya said he’s only ever heard one name for the rocks, other people see something entirely different.
“I’m going with the dinosaur claws,” said Chris Peck. “Yeah, that’s safe.”
KRQE News 13 reached out to the owner of the shopping center to get a back story on the wall. No one responded.
Punya said he’s never met anyone offended by the rocks yet. He said people find it amusing.
