PNM teaches energy savings to elementary students

PNM energy kit

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Students are being taught how to help save energy at school and at home.

Students at East San Jose Elementary School got a lesson from PNM today about what keeps the lights on at their school and home.

Each student got a kit to teach them how to save energy. The kit came with a low-flow showerhead, fluorescent bulbs, and an LED night light.

PNM says the earlier we can introduce these ideas, the more we’ll save.

“Get them early, teach them how important it is to save energy and they will be efficient energy consumers throughout their whole lives,” said Karyn Scott, of PNM.

The PNM program has provided kits to more than 10,000 5th graders across the state. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
