County commissioners approve memorial designs for officers

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)– Plans for two memorials that would honor police officers, killed in the line of duty, are moving forward.

Bernalillo County Commissioners Tuesday night approved designs for the memorials.

One would be at Arroyo Del Oso Park in northeast Albuquerque where there’s already a large park and substation. The second would be in Tijeras near the James McGrane Safety Complex.

The county doesn’t have final numbers on what the memorials will cost to build, but they are asking for an $800,000 appropriation from state lawmakers during the session to help out.
