Woman pleads guilty in New Mexico heroin trafficking case

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – An Arizona woman has pleaded guilty to heroin trafficking in New Mexico.

Prosecutors say 25-year-old Vanessa Guadalupe Munoz-Mungaray of Tucson entered her plea Monday in a federal court in Albuquerque.

Munoz-Mungaray was arrested after federal drug agents seized more than seven pounds of heroin from her luggage at an Albuquerque bus station on July 21, 2015.

Authorities say the heroin was contained in eight bundles that were concealed in false compartments inside her luggage.

Munoz-Mungaray admitted that she was paid to transport the narcotics to New York.

In a plea agreement, Munoz-Mungaray pleaded guilty to possession of heroin with intent to distribute.

There’s no immediate word on when her sentencing hearing will be held.
