Suspect in New Year’s Eve murder faces judge

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A man accused of committing murder over a beer pong game was in court Monday. Police say friends and neighbors gathered for a New Year’s Eve party at an apartment near Central and Coors.

A fight broke out during a game of beer pong. Police say 22-year-old Nathan Ware left and came back with two unknown men forced his way in and opened fire.

Joray Chavez was killed and Robert McCoy was critically injured.

A judge lowered his bond from $1 million to $100,000 cash or surety.
