Piano Around the World makes a stop in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It’s an impressive feat. A man traveling around the world with his upright piano for five years.

His journey began in 2010 when he quit his job in New York City and began pushing his piano instead.

Dotan Negrin has been everywhere pushing his piano through 35 states and 20 countries until he recently made a stop right here in New Mexico.

“One thing about New Mexico that is really amazing is that it is one of the most diverse places i have ever seen,” said Negrin.

Recently, video of Negrin’s August stop through New Mexico popped up on YouTube.

On a desolate road, outside of Tucumcari, the piano man who’s played in front of large crowds in Europe, played an enchanting tune in the land of enchantment.

It was a cross-country road trip with his mom. He says he couldn’t pass on the opportunity to stop here again.

“The first time that I was here was in 2011, I was living by myself out of a box truck with my piano and I went to White Sands,” said Negrin.

In 2010, Negrin quit his 9 to 5 job, bought a piano and truck, and started playing piano on the streets.

He now does the two things he loves full time, playing piano and traveling.

“I tell this to everyone. Don’t fear traveling the world. Go out there and explore and meet people. Experience the world,” said Negrin.
