New Mexico resident wins $100K Powerball prize

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Although no one in New Mexico won the Powerball jackpot, not everyone will be walking away empty handed.

One lucky winner matched four white balls and the Powerball with the power play option, doubling the prize to $100,000.

Nine others matched four white balls and the Powerball for $50,000. Five of them came forward on Thursday, including a group of 15 welders. They work for L-3 Communications. They said their winnings came at a good time, because they were told they would be laid off at the end of the month.

Three additional $50,000 winners claimed prizes too.

Thousands more won smaller cash prizes of $4 to $200. There is still a $100,000 winner out there. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
