Charges dismissed for softball coach charged with criminal sexual contact

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE)– Charges against a Carlsbad youth softball coach were abruptly dismissed this week after an interesting development in trial.

John Aragon was charged with criminal sexual contact in 2014 after a 13-year-old player accused him of inappropriately touching her several times during visits to his home.

After the alleged victim took the stand at trial Tuesday, prosecutors decided to dismiss the charges.

Officials tell KRQE News 13 they were not expecting her testimony to be what it was and didn’t feel they had enough evidence to move forward.
